I had a convention at the SD Convention Center & the William Penn Hotel was perfect for what I needed. My 1bd/1bt room had a full kitchen with fridge & stove & a large separate living room. Older slower elevators but who can't wait an extra 15-20 seconds to get down 4 flights? It isn't the type of conventional hotel you might be familiar with & has no room services or otherwise so it's pretty much like you're in your own apartment. Located in the center of the Gaslamp district so there were lots of cafes & bars in all directions. Because of this it was pretty noisy all night as the bedroom was away from the street. I saw another comment about light-bulbs missing & yeah it was weird but they must not change them - ever b/c 3 or 4 of the lamps wouldn't work - burnt out I assume. This would have been extremely annoying if I'd been there any amount of time. I'd love to come back to this place for non-business sometime.

There are several ways to make a reservation. You can always call our office at 619-231-1500. You can also make a reservation online by clicking "Book Now" for immediate reservations.

You may pay for a reservation with cash, but all reservations must have a credit card on file.

We do not accept any pets at the William Penn Hotel.

How do I check out?
To check out return your keys to the front desk or leave them in the lockbox on the 2nd floor in the trash room.
I have a late flight home, can I check out late?
You are able to check out late if the room is available. Please call to confirm the room is available late. The William Penn Hotel can not guarantee any late check out reservations.

Convention Guests
Can I ship packages to the hotel instead of the Convention Center?
Yes, please make sure to have your name on the package to ensure we get the package to you.
How far is the hotel to the Convention Center?
We are five blocks to the convention center.
How many people can your rooms sleep?
Each suite will sleep four people with a queen bed and sleeper sofa.
Can we reserve a room with a company check?
Yes, but a credit card still needs to be on file.
